On June 29, 2025, Wat Phra Dhammakaya Johannesburg in South Africa organized the Second International Mass Ordination Program as an offering to the Lord Buddha and to honor the 81st birthday of Luang Por Dhammajayo, who sparked the revival of Buddhism on a global scale.
This ordination was truly international, with participants from eight countries across three continents:
Africa: South Africa, Cameroon, Benin, Malawi
Europe: Portugal, Wales
Asia: Sri Lanka, Thailand
This ordination program ran from June 22 to July 5, 2025, with the mission to deeply plant the seeds of Dhamma in Africa, cultivate inner peace, and awaken faith through ordination. It also represents a powerful way to preserve and promote the Buddhist heritage as a reliable spiritual refuge for humanity.
